Barr Gazetas

Alistair Barr founded Barr Gazetas in 1993. Before this he was an Associate at Terry Farrell and Partners and CMW. Barr Gazetas’ designs create places for people with public interaction at their heart. Peninsula Square was won through an invited competition in 2003.

The Square opened in June 2007 as the entry space to the O2 Arena (formerly The Dome). It is the first public square within the Greenwich Peninsula development.

Since opening, the square has hosted many events as well as acting as the urban focus for Ravensbourne College and Transport for London headquarters.

Alistair has taught Urban Design at the University of Greenwich for 18 years and has three papers published in their Urban Design Review. These examined urban regeneration catalysts in Hydra, Greece, SoHo, New York and Primrose Hill.

Alistair is a Civic Trust judge and is also involved in the University of Portsmouth’s seminars on Places for Spaces supported by SEEDA.
